The Chanal do Cojo, in times designated as Ribeira das Azenhas do to the high bunber of those mills that focused along its banks, named the factory founded there in 1775 by João Rodrigues Branco - Fábrica do Côjo. It was an important place of mooring boats, which completed the extension Aveiro-Mar.
