It was designed by the architect António Monteiro and it also has an athletics track around the field, where a diversity of other sports, such as athletics, can be held. It is also used for university classes during the week.
The stadium is divided into four levels, with a total capacity of 30 000 seats. It has a natural turf football field, available for top level competition, with a synthetic reinforcement, that allows for intensive usage for Football and Rugby. It also has an official Athletics Track, indoor athletics lanes, 2 warming up rooms, 2 gymnasiums and a Judo Training Centre.
It also provides rooms for administrative, commercial and business usage.
