This museum is in the guardianship of Santa Casa da Misericórdia (Anadia) and is integrated in the Palace where José Luciano de Castro (1834-1914), leader of the progressive party and statesman in the liberal monarchy, used to live. The palace was built in 1860 by his father-in-law, Alexandre Ferreira de Seabra (1818-1891), lawyer and the author of the first Portuguese Civil Procedure Code.
