The Ria is the result of the retreat of the sea, with the formation of coastal ridges that starting in the sixteenth century, formed a lagoon that is one of the most important and beautiful hydrographic accidents of the Portuguese coast. The Ria de Aveiro extends into four important canals sectioned into branches that surround countless islands and islets. It is impossible to talk about the Ria without speaking of Aveiro, salt, shore, seaweed and the Moliceiro boats.
