Founded in 1954 in Cantanhede, a place where winegrowing dates back to Roman times, today it has approximately 550 members who represent about 1000 Ha of vineyards and it is the largest producer in Bairrada.

Its production represents about 40% of the region's total production, 80% of which are Bairrada Doc and Beira Atlântico IGP classified wines and sparkling wines. In recent years, it has steadily strengthened its market leadership in the sales of wines with these appellations.

Its wines have won more than 550 distinctions since 2011. In 2015, Adega de Cantanhede was included in the TOP 100 of the World's Best Wine Producers by WAWWJ - World Association of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Critics, having also been awarded "Best Cooperative Winery" by Revista de Vinhos magazine in 2011 and by Paixão pelo Vinho magazine in 2017.

Its portfolio reflects an unequivocal focus on the dissemination and promotion of Portuguese grape varieties, particularly the indigenous ones of the Bairrada region, such as Baga, Bical and Maria Gomes, but also Touriga Nacional, Aragonez and Arinto.
