Exploratório Infante D. Henrique

The Exploratório Infante D. Henrique was the first interactive Science centre in Portugal and was built in 1995, as a non-profit organization.
Observations
The University of Coimbra and the Faculty of Science and Technology are the main founding members, and the Municipal Culture House of Coimbra provides the premises.
It started with a government initiative to create centres of introduction to science, for the public in general, in the 90s.
In 1998, it was integrated into the network of Life Science Centres, as a multidisciplinary centre, and in 2000 it was awarded the public utility award.
In 2009, the Exploratorium moved to a new building, in the Parque Verde do Mondego, and hosts a major exhibition dedicated to the associations between the basic sciences and health.
