This is the most famous fountain of the Forest of Buçaco and one of its most charming places.
Between the XVIIth and XIXth centuries, the water points (springs) and water lines that can be found in the Forest of Buçaco, had several interventions, namely the construction of lakes and fountains, among which the most famous one, Fonte Fria.
The two predominant water lines of the Mata do Buçaco unite in the Cold Fountain, originating a water line that runs through the Fern Valley, name that derives from a group of tree ferns arranged along the valley.
