Inaugurated on January 18, 1950, the then-called "Cine-Teatro de Mealhada" was an initiative of industrialist Messias Baptista, aiming to provide the city with a cultural landmark.

Designed by architect Raul Rodrigues Lima, the building quickly became a central point of cultural life in Mealhada, hosting theater plays, film screenings, and various social events. After a period of decline and closure in the 1990s, the Cineteatro underwent a major renovation, culminating in its reopening on October 27, 2001.

Since then, it has played a crucial role in promoting the arts and culture in the region, honoring the legacy of its founder.
