Museu Municipal - Colecção Louzã Henriques
Presentation
In 2004 a set of musical instruments, collected by Doctor Louzã Henriques, became part of the Municipal Museum, housed in the former Gallery of the Tourist Office at Portagem. Its first exhibition, dedicated to the Portuguese guitar, was organised around the theme of Coimbra fado and its popular festivities.
Observations
Now renovated, this gallery was opened on 18th May, on International Museum Day, with an exhibition of chordophones organised according to the geographic origin of the instruments. The Municipal Museum, that belongs to the Louzã Henriques Gallery of Musical Instruments, aims to research, understand and promote the themes relating to the museological groups and their collections. The Museum also aims to promote and understand the historical and artistic heritage of the city of Coimbra and to enhance its preservation.
