The existence of this space as a leisure park is due to the entrepreneurial spirit of Dr. Eduardo Caldeira who, in the second half of the 19th century, transformed a small and steep plateau in the centre of Águeda into a majestic "oasis" populated by rare and exotic trees and beautiful gardens with leisure facilities.
