Quinta das Lágrimas owes its name to the misadventures of the romance between the lady Inês de Castro and Prince D. Pedro.

The romantic tragedy places the death of the beautiful Inês in this place.

The "Fonte dos Amores" is documented shortly after the death of Inês de Castro and is today part of a park with centenary trees, medieval and neo-gothic ruins, ponds and streams.
