Ria de Aveiro

The Ria is the result of the retreat of the sea, with the formation of coastal strands which, from the 16th century onwards, formed a lagoon that is one of the most important and beautiful hydrographic accidents on the portuguese coast.

It unfolds in four important channels, branched out into estuaries, which surround countless islands and islets. To talk about the Ria is to talk about Aveiro, salt, seawater, moliço and moliceiros boats.
