São Jacinto Dunes Nature Reserve

Protected area since 1979, it extends along 960 ha between the northern arm of the Ria de Aveiro and the sea. With guided access, it includes areas with beaches, mobile and fixed dunes, maritime pine woods and fresh water puddles. Its objective is to prevent the advance of the sea through the conservation of the dunes, the safeguarding of cultivated land, the protection of the dune ecosystem, including fauna and flora, and the promotion of environmental awareness actions.

To discover this protected area, there are footpaths, carefully marked, or you can opt for a guided visit by the Nature Reserve's services, by appointment.
