History
It is said that La Chapelle, a French engineer, in 1863 was able to cure an illness by bathing in the waters of the area; In 1897, Luís Navega, a medicine student, decides to make scientific analysis of the waters. They were then classified as suitable for treating renal, metabolic, hypertension and rheumatic diseases.
In 1902, the Sociedade das Águas da Curia was given the possibility of exploiting the thermal springs through a royal charter signed by King D. Carlos.
From the 1920s onwards, the elite of Portuguese society would periodically meet at the Termas da Curia.
