Aldeia de Macieira de Alcôba

This is a truly characteristic village of this region. Urgueira, a highly traditional hamlet, is part of the village and is the highest and most remote place of the whole Municipality.
Every August, the ethnographic association ?Os Serranos? organizes the ?Milagre d´Urgueira? (miracle of Urgeuira ) Festival, a secular tradition, where a man enters a community oven where he places a giant corn-loaf weighing almost 50 Kilos.
