The Miguel Torga House Museum offers a unique experience to visitors, allowing them to understand the influence of Coimbra on the author’s work and his literary vision.

• Miguel Torga, originally from São Martinho de Anta in northern Portugal, spent much of his youth in the city of Coimbra, where he graduated in Medicine and began his literary career. It was in this intellectual and cultural environment that he developed his literary vision, which would make him an indispensable figure in Portuguese literature. Throughout his life, Torga cultivated a writing marked by authenticity, a connection to the land, and emotional depth.

In his vast work, which includes poetry, novels, and plays, Miguel Torga addressed themes such as human solitude, the challenges of rural life, and the complexity of the human condition. His writing reflects his deep gaze upon the world and his experiences as a doctor, poet, and human being.

The House Museum, inaugurated in 2009, is located in the house where Torga lived until he was 18 and where he developed many of his early literary works.
