It occupies the former pumping station and water treatment plant that supplied the public network, known as the “Casinha do Parque” (Park House), which still bears the date of its construction: CMC 1922.
Opened in March 2007, the current structure was designed by architects João Mendes Ribeiro, Alberto Lapa, and Paolo Monzo to portray the history of public water supply.
Also noteworthy is the use of the underground tunnel that currently leads to a terrace on the banks of the river.
Situated in the Dr. Manuel de Braga Park, the museum occupies the former Water Collection Plant, of 1922.
